In his work, Deniz Buga presents local and alternative histories against a backdrop of urbanism. Gender and minorities are reoccurring subjects. His films depict the rhythm and flow of reality while he investigates ambivalent communities, personal and collective trauma. As he travels the world, Buga reflects on the penetration of politics, prejudice and public imagination in various cultures and societies, using the grammar of film making to capture their force.
