By Thomas Huber
The works of the Swiss painter Thomas Huber, who was born in 1955, offer us fewer realities than places which invite us to ponder an artistic fiction. Like an architect, Huber interweaves his image space with constructive structures and by using motifs, such as the rhombus and square, the element defining the work, he reflects ironically on the myths of the Modern Age. The melancholic title of the book, and exhibition, conveys the critical perspective of the artist, who questions the possibilities of a real encounter between observer and artwork. By presenting works to the public, Huber creates an occasion for an encounter and in his philosophical-poetic essays he gives tangible form to the image space as a space of meaning and the image depth as depth of meaning.
